Apologies for the lack of updates to the blog - John has been traversing the Indian sub-continent far and wide in search for the suitable tuk-tuk but has yet to be successful in his quest. By 'quest', I mean staying at the famous luxurious Lake Palace hotel in Udaipur where there "weren't many Tuk-Tuks" and a peaceful house-boat in Srinagar. We were very close to purchasing our rickshaw for 75,000 Rupees (£860) before being told that it was impossible to drive it out of the city due to the mountains that lay between Srinagar and the rest of India - not ideal.
However that shall not deter our efforts. After John's exhaustive search, he has taken a well-deserved break hiking in the Himalayas near the 'disputed' border with Pakistan. Dangerous as this may sound, his First in Geography will I'm sure be enough to navigate him through the tough terrain.
We shall be re-uniting in Amritsar (think Golden Temple) on Monday where we'll hopefully update the status of the tuk tuk purchasing! This is also conveniently the start of the 'Grand Trunk Road' which links Pakistan, India and Bangladesh - hopefully a good guide for our long journey east.
Much Love
Freddie and John
Ha sounds truly amazing and so exciting. Very jealous. Keep us updated. If you can't get a Tuk Tuk, what about a donkey drawn cart?
